ADVENT WEDNESDAY DAY ELEVEN: STAR

Today is day eleven of Advent.  Our word for today is "Star."

Matthew 1: Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

The wise men, or Magi, followed a star to locate the Christ Child.  By this time the family of Jesus were living in a house in Bethlehem.  It was a star that showed them the way to "The Way."  It was a star in the heavens that located for them the "Star of heaven and earth"  The Scripture describes Him as the "Bright and Morning Star."  A star symbolizes God's leadership.

When we first began our walk with Jesus it was God, the Holy Spirit, that lead us to Christ the Savior, the Star.  From that time on we were lead by Christ the Star.  Just as certainly as it took a star to lead the Magi to Bethlehem, it takes a Star to lead us through this life.

Christ is the point of light we must follow in order to be in the will of God.  Sometimes that Point of light is Christ through the Scriptures.  Often that Point of light is seen in our wives or husbands.  The point of light may be seen through our pastor or another Godly friend.  Many times the Point of Light is a settled peace in our heart.   Philippians 4:7 And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.(NCV)  It is a peace we cannot understand and yet it keeps our hearts and minds.  That is, we stay bound to His will.

Are you struggling this Christmas season with the will of God for your life?  Let me ask you a few questions.  1)  Are you sincerely desiring and seeking the will of God?  2)  Would you truly be willing to follow His will if you knew it?  3)  Is there a sin of some kind (either a sin of omission, commission, or disposition) that may be keeping you from seeing that Point of Light?  4)  Finally are you doing the part of God's will that you already know?  If you could not answer yes to these questions you have some changes to make.  What a great time to make those changes!

KNOWING THE WILL OF HEAVEN MEANS ALWAYS FOLLOWING "THE STAR OF HEAVEN"
